In The Garden of Gethsemane

Part one: The Prayers in the Garden

Matthew 26:36-46

³⁶Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.³⁷And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.³⁸Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

Mark 14:32-34

³²And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.³³And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;³⁴And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

Both Matthew and Mark say essentially the same thing!

Luke 22:35-40

³⁵And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.³⁶Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

The reason for the contradiction is he has to lay the guilt of the arrest of Jesus Christ on Jesus Christ himself : for sedition

Jesus Christ did not tell his disciples to buy a sword!

And Luke was not a disciple of Jesus Christ and was not present in the garden to know what Jesus said and has come up with this story out of thin air!

³⁷For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned (weighed) among the transgressors:

for the things concerning me have an end.

³⁸And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords.

And he said unto them,

It is enough.

This is a parady of the last words Jesus said before he died when He said:

It is finished.

By the way, the things concerning Jesus of Nazareth do not have an end!

It is only wishful thinking outloud from Luke the follower of Saul/Paul and their “way”  which looks more and more like they are against the truth and they are the ones that weigh us.

The apostles of the false Christ from the Land of Synopsia

use their swords to slice and dice men, 

Jesus of Nazareth and his chosen apostles!

They are antithetical in their three gospels

and other books in the New Testament about

Jesus Christ in the gospel of John!

³⁹And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.⁴⁰And when he was at the place, he said unto them,

Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

Just out of nowhere Jesus says: Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

Again, making Jesus sound really weird!

Prayer Number One

Matthew 26:39-41

³⁹And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.⁴⁰And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?⁴¹Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Mark 14:35-38

³⁵And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.³⁶And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.³⁷And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?³⁸Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

Luke 22:41-46

⁴¹And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,⁴²Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.⁴³And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.⁴⁴And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.⁴⁵And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,⁴⁶And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

It is hard to enter into temptation when asleep and besides they were not asleep as the gospel of John tells.

Why in the world would they be sleeping in a garden in Gethsamane with their two swords that they armed themselves with before entering the garden anyway

(as Luke says earlier).

This is so ridiculous and fakey!

Luke says an angel appeared unto him from heaven to strengthen Jesus, but the other two synoptic gospels (Matthew and Mark) do NOT mention an angel. 

As I said a while ago, Luke was not there, so the angel comes from his own imagination!

Prayer Number Two

==================

Matthew 26:42-43

⁴²He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.⁴³And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

Mark 14:39-40

³⁹And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.⁴⁰And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.

Both Matthew and Mark say that Jesus went back a second time to pray for the cup to pass away from him! But in the gospel of John when Jesus was in Jerusalem for the Jewish Feast and he says:

John 12:27

²⁷Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

Jesus was not trying to escape the reason he came!

He is telling us in John 12:27 that others will say that he asks to be saved from this hour are not witnesses! All three synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) are agreed in this representation and have obviously misplaced this quote to another event and placed it in the garden and it has something to do with the Covenant with Many made in their rendition of the “Last Supper.” John does not include the Covenant with Many made in the Last Supper about drinking the fruit of the vine until the Kingdom of God has come.

Must be that the mysterious “Q” source told them to say it.

The Synoptic “Q Source”

I don’t believe the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) of what happened in the garden, because Jesus said that was why he came to this hour was to glorify the name of God. Which he did at the feast in Jerusalem:

John 12:28

²⁸Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

Prayer Number Three

==================

Matthew 26:44-46

44And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words 45Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

Mark 14:41-42

⁴¹And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.⁴²Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.

Both Matthew and Mark say that Jesus tells his disciples to sleep on and then tells them to rise.  They should have asked him “what do you want us to do? Sleep or rise?”

They make Jesus sound skitszoid!

Luke has no more to say about when Jesus prayed in the garden. Matthew says Jesus prayed a second time and a third time for the cup to pass from him. Mark only says he prayed a second time and a third time all the while the disciples were asleep. Does that include Mark? If he was asleep, how would he know? Luke doesn’t mention a second and a third prayer time. And to top it off……they were not there!

All verses are pretty similar but in Matthew Jesus fell on his face, and in Mark Jesus fell on the ground and in Luke Jesus kneels down to pray. Luke, who adds an angel, agony, and great drops of  sweat. Of course, they are all asleep so how would he know of the angel and drops of blood-like sweat and the agony. If Jesus was doing this would not that wake up the disciples, but they were asleep. I imagine if there were an angel visibly there they would be wide awake, but they were asleep.

Does not make sense! 

All three of the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke say that Jesus is praying for the cup to be taken from him, but in the gospel of John this does not happen at all, in fact, Jesus had already prayed (chapter 17 Gospel of John) at the site of the Last Supper. We know Luke was not there, Mark was not there, and Matthew was not there since they missed out on the dialogue at the Last Supper and the prayer.

Jesus was not asking for the cup to be taken from him in the prayer at the Last Supper. John mentions no prayer at the garden but, of course, John and Peter and whoever was in the garden were supposed to be sleeping. Jesus knew what was going to happen. He is the spirit of prophecy as he says in Revelation.

Why do these other three gospels add this blarney when they were not there at the garden or the supper?

I like Shakespeare, but this is ridiculous.

Part Two: The Kiss and the Arrest

Matthew 26:47-48

⁴⁷And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came,

and with him a great multitude with swords and staves,

from the chief priests and elders of the people

.⁴⁸Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.⁴⁹And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

Sounds like Judas was Roman!

Mark 14:43-44

⁴³And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.⁴⁴And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.⁴⁵And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.

How would Mark know what Judas said? Mark says that Judas says to lead him away safely and Matthew says: hold him fast after Judas kisses Jesus!

Matthew says Judas says Hail Master and Mark says Judas says Master, master.

Luke 22:47-48

⁴⁷And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.⁴⁸But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

That is what Matthew, Mark and Luke seem to be saying is that Judas betrays Jesus with a kiss! Jesus already knew Judas was going to betray him. He said it a bunch at dinner and in the gospel of Matthew 3 times before that. It wasn’t as if Jesus did not know that Judas was going to betray him! This kiss business is so contrived! Jesus knew who would betray him way before the betrayer knew. He also knew if he would kiss him or not and Jesus never prophecies a kiss from the betrayer.  HMMMMMM!

Why not?

I guess the authors of Matthew, Mark and Luke forgot to do that!

Wasn’t it the Synoptic gospels

that said no sign would be given?

Well let’s check:

Matthew 16:3
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

Matthew 16:4
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

Mark 8:12
And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

Luke 2:12
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

Luke 2:34
And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

Luke 11:29
And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.

Luke 11:30
For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.

So was the sign of the kiss from Judas in the Garden

the same sign as the sign of the prophet Jonas?

Was the sign of the prophet Jonas the sign of

the baby Jesus in swaddling clothes in a manger?

The Synoptic Gospels are a mess!

Part Three:  One of Them That Smote the Ear

Matthew 26:50-51

⁵⁰And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him.⁵¹And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear.

Mark 14:46-47

⁴⁶And they laid their hands on him, and took him.⁴⁷And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

Luke 22:49-51

⁴⁹When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?⁵⁰And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.⁵¹And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

Luke set this up earlier in his gospel when he said that Jesus told his disciples to buy a sword, so I’m surprised he doesn’t say who it is that smote the ear! But he does say that they asked whether they shall smite with the sword.

This is so unreal!

All three synoptic gospels say it was one of them that smote the ear, so I guess they don’t know which one of them it is!

Doesn’t sound like they are in the know!

Only the gospel of Luke says that Jesus healed the ear.

Luke wasn’t there!

He doesn’t know who smote the ear, but he knows Jesus healed the ear yet no one else notices Jesus healing the ear.

Perhaps Luke or Paul is Malchus?

In depictions of Paul there is always one ear missing or a covering of one ear. ( At least that is what I have noticed IN MY STUDIES AND EXPLORATION.)

Sounds an awful lot like Jackie Kennedy’s amnesia of leaping to the trunk of the car, but knowing why she did. To get brain parts when in actuality it looks an awful lot like a hard tube rolling, Maybe caps from a weapon? Not to mention failing to tell about the puppet she received over the fence line at the airport 1/2 hour before the assassination of JFK, but musing as to why someone would give her red roses as she arrived in Dallas. What is so odd about receiving red roses? Jackie Kennedy had lots of selective memories!   Back to the Gospel of Matthew:

Matthew 26:52-54

⁵²Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.⁵³Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?⁵⁴But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

Legion is a roman military term!

Only the three synoptic gospels speak about legion and legions, but mostly in reference to demons! Here is a post about Legions and demons:

Part Four:  Disciples Forsook Him

Matthew 26:55-56

⁵⁵In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.⁵⁶But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

Of course thats what they were doing, and Jesus knew it! Why did Jesus ask when he already knew that they came out as against a thief with swords and staves to take him?

Again, the synoptic gospels have made nonsense of the truth and betray themselves!

Mark 14:48-52

48And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?49I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.50And they all forsook him, and fled.

⁵¹And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:⁵²And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

This is a very strange addition to the story! I really don’t understand the meaning of it,

but I am sure the intent to deceive is written all over it!

Kind of makes me think of the Shroud of Turin!

Luke 22:52-53

⁵²Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?⁵³When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

Part Five:  Peter Follows

Matthew 26:57-58

⁵⁷And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.⁵⁸But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

Mark 14:53-54

⁵³And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.⁵⁴And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

Luke 22:54

⁵⁴Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest’s house. And Peter followed afar off.

Looks like not all of the disciples fled or forsook Jesus as Matthew and Mark suggest in the section above! Matthew says Peter followed to see the end which is kind of suggesting that Peter was looking forward to this end. Luke seems to suggest that because of the “buying a sword tale” that the true Jesus Christ was the wolf that scatters the sheep only to cover up who the real wolf is!

Part Six:  According to the Gospel of John

John 18:1-12

1When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.2And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.3Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.4Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?5They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.6As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.7Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.8Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:9That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.10Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.11Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath:

the cup

which my Father hath given me,

shall I not drink it?

12Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,

Peter was the ONE OF THEM that smote the ear!

The man that had his ear whacked was Malchus!

Jesus went forth to the garden to meet the band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, and also Judas.

He did not try to escape! He deliberately met the multitude!

He asked that his disciples be allowed to go their way!

They did not forsake him!

He did what He had purposed to do!

The Crucifixion

John 19:29-30

²⁹Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar:

and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

³⁰When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished:

and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

The Covenant in Blood

I wonder why the three Synoptic Gospel have a a covenant for the many at the Last Supper,

but not in the Gospel of John.

Seems to me that the Gospel of John would include this covenant made with the many?

Matthew 26:26-28

²⁶And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.²⁷And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;²⁸For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Mark 14:22-25

²²And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.²³And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.²⁴And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.²⁵Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

Luke 22:20

²⁰Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

It is written as “covenant” instead of “testament” in the NIV and many other versions of the bible.

So what is Paul saying below?

I have a hard time with Paul and understanding where he is coming from because he seems most of the time to digress/swerve often!

Galatians 3:15-17

¹⁵Brethren, I speak after the manner of men;

Though it be but a man’s covenant,

yet if it be confirmed,

no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

¹⁶Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Daniel 9:27 (New International Version)

²⁷ He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ ^[a] In the middle of the ‘seven’ ^[b] he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.
